About

Lewis and Clark State Park sits on the northern shores of Lake Sakakawea, surrounded by the towering buttes and rolling hills of North Dakota's badlands. The park offers 96 campsites: 41 with full hookups (50-amp service), 47 with electric and water, and 8 primitive tent sites. Multiple campground loops provide access to the park's extensive amenities. The park features modern boating facilities including a protected marina with slips ranging from 20 to 50 feet, a four-lane boat ramp, and fuel service. Anglers will find excellent fishing for walleye, sauger, and northern pike. A swimming beach and day-use area are located along the east shore near the seasonal camping cabins. Hiking opportunities include the Cottonwood Trail (1.1 miles), Greenhorn Trail (1.43 miles), and Coteau Trail (2.6 miles), winding through native mixed-grass prairie, wooded draws, and badlands with interpretive stations. The Trader's Bay Visitor Center offers ice, firewood, tackle, and souvenirs. Additional amenities include flush toilets, showers, dump stations, a fish cleaning station, dog park, picnic shelters, and equipment rentals including kayaks, canoes, paddleboards, fat tire bikes, and snowshoes.
