About

Leavis Flat Campground is a rustic, volunteer-operated campground nestled at 3,000 feet elevation within the Giant Sequoia National Monument, part of Sequoia National Forest. The campground features 9 sites along the Tule River, providing a quiet, low-elevation alternative to the more developed campgrounds higher in the monument. This primitive facility is managed by volunteers from the Giant Sequoia National Monument Association and operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no advance reservations. Amenities are minimal: vault toilets and picnic tables are provided, but there is no potable water. Campers must bring all drinking water and should come prepared for a basic camping experience. Due to the 16-foot maximum RV length restriction, Leavis Flat is best suited for tent camping or very small camping vehicles. Bear activity has been reported in the area, and visitors should use bear-resistant food storage canisters. Pets are allowed but must be kept on a 6-foot leash at all times.

Directions

Leavis Flat Campground is located along Hot Springs Drive (Highway 190) in California Hot Springs, CA. From Bakersfield, take Highway 65 north to Ducor, then turn east on Avenue 56, which becomes Hot Springs Drive. The campground is approximately 30 miles from Ducor, situated on the right side of the road just before reaching the California Hot Springs Resort.
