About

Quaking Aspen Group Campground is located at 7,200 feet elevation in the Western Divide Ranger District of Sequoia National Forest, a quarter mile past the end of State Highway 190. The campground takes its name from the quaking aspen trees that shimmer brilliant green in spring and turn russet-gold in fall. Seven group sites are available: three 12-person sites, two 25-person sites, and two 50-person sites, plus one group yurt. All group sites are reservation only. The facility features paved roads, parking, and camping areas with vault toilets, potable water, picnic tables, and BBQ stoves. Two accessible vault toilet units are available. The parking area does not accommodate RV hookups, and RVs are limited to 24 feet maximum length. The campground sits within a short drive of five giant sequoia groves including McIntyre Grove and Freeman Creek Grove. Hiking is available on numerous trails including the Summit Mountain National Recreation Trail. Fishing is open year-round on the Tule River Drainage (including Boulder and Belknap Creeks), while Peppermint Creek and Golden Trout Wilderness streams are open from the last Saturday in April through November 15. Supplies are available at Ponderosa Lodge approximately 2 miles away.
