About
Located at 6,400 feet elevation in the Giant Sequoia National Monument within Sequoia National Forest, Holey Meadow Campground is a primitive, tent-only camping area popular with hikers and visitors exploring the giant sequoias. The campground features 10 individual campsites, each equipped with a picnic table and campfire ring. Vault toilets are provided, but there is no potable water available, so visitors must bring their own supply. The campground's remote location offers a peaceful base for exploring the magnificent giant sequoia groves nearby. The wheelchair-accessible Trail of a Hundred Giants is a short drive away, along with the Redwood and Long Meadow sequoia groves. Trails throughout the monument are open to hikers, horses, and bikes, winding through sequoia groves, up mountains, and alongside wild rivers. The area sits at the southern end of the Sierra Nevada, where elevations range from 1,000 to 12,000 feet, creating dramatic canyons and mountain streams. This is a remote location with no nearby services, and visitors should come prepared. The area is active bear country, so proper food storage is essential. Due to the high elevation and mountain location, the campground is subject to seasonal winter closures typically lasting until mid-June, weather dependent.
