George Bush Loop Trail Area Closure
To provide for public safety and protect natural resources, the following acts are prohibited within the Western Divide Ranger District of the Sequoia National Forest. Being on, or within 100 feet of, the George Bush Loop Trail.
About
Upper Peppermint Dispersed Area sits at 7,100 feet in the Giant Sequoia National Monument, offering a true backcountry camping experience for self-reliant visitors. This undeveloped area has no designated campsites, no amenities, and no fees. Campers must bring their own water (or filter/treat from nearby sources), pack out all trash and human waste, and leave no trace of their stay. The area is accessible via Forest Road 21S07 from the Western Divide Highway. Nearby Peppermint Creek offers fishing opportunities; check California Department of Fish and Wildlife for current regulations. The 14-day stay limit applies to all National Forest lands in Sequoia. As dispersed camping, visitors choose their own spot while keeping vehicle wheels on or near the road. A California campfire permit is required if you plan to have a fire, and seasonal fire restrictions may prohibit open flames entirely during high fire danger periods.
