About
Long Meadow Group Campground sits at 6,400 feet elevation in the southern portion of Giant Sequoia National Monument within Sequoia National Forest. This remote group facility accommodates up to 36 people and 5 vehicles and is situated near trails that wind through ancient giant sequoia groves. The campground provides access to the Trail of a Hundred Giants, which wanders through the Long Meadow Giant Sequoia Grove, offering visitors the chance to walk among the world's largest trees. The area is ideal for groups seeking a wilderness experience surrounded by towering sequoias. Nearby attractions include the Belknap Grove and Freeman Grove in the southern section of the monument. The northern portion features the Boole Tree, the largest tree in the National Forest system, and Indian Basin Grove. Sequoia National Forest comprises about 1.1 million acres with elevations ranging from 1,000 to 12,000 feet, creating dramatic canyons and mountain streams. This is a primitive facility with vault toilets and no potable water, so visitors must bring all water needed for their stay. The campground is suitable for RVs up to 16 feet in length. Bear country precautions are required, and visitors should use bear-resistant food storage. The site is reservation-only and operates seasonally from May through October.
