About

Located 19 miles east of Springville in the Western Divide Ranger District of Sequoia National Forest, Belknap Campground offers an intimate camping experience among ancient giant sequoias. The campground sits at 4,800 feet elevation within the Belknap and McIntyre giant sequoia groves, providing shaded sites along Belknap Creek. The campground features 15 tent-only sites that accommodate up to 6 guests each. Trailers, RVs, and off-road vehicles are not permitted due to the campground's location and road access. Each site includes a picnic table and campfire ring. The Middle Fork of the Tule River is within walking distance, offering year-round fishing opportunities with a valid California fishing license. The Nelson Trail begins near the campground, providing access to extensive hiking and mountain biking opportunities through sequoia groves and along mountain streams. Supplies and services are available in the nearby community of Camp Nelson, less than 2 miles away. The campground is operated by Rocky Mountain Recreation under a Forest Service concession permit. This is active bear country, and proper food storage is required.
