About

Laurel Branch Campground is located on the shore of Rough River Lake in south central Kentucky, managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The 5,100-acre lake draws more than two million visitors annually who camp, picnic, fish, swim, boat, and relax along the lake shore. The campground offers 62 campsites, with most sites located on the waterfront and others just a short walk from the lake. Several sites feature electric hookups. The rolling, forested hills of rural south central Kentucky provide an extraordinary setting for lake visitors. Rough River Lake features views of ancient sandstone, shale, and limestone cliffs carved by an abundance of surface and underground water, creating numerous sinks and caverns. The lake is home to diverse wildlife including migratory songbirds and waterfowl. Bass, crappie, and catfish are the most sought-after species, with bass tournaments held throughout the year. Pontoon, johnboat, and jet ski rentals are available at nearby marinas. Mammoth Cave National Park, featuring the longest cave system in the world with over 240 miles of mapped passageways, is about one hour away.
