A combination of well-above average temperatures, low relative humidity, breezy winds, and worsening drought conditions will result in elevated fire weather conditions for this afternoon. Winds will be out of the southwest this afternoon, gusting up to 20 to 25 mph, and relative humidity values will drop to around 25 to 35 percent across the area. Conditions will improve after sunset as winds slowly decrease and relative humidity values increase.

Axtel Campground is a large established campground located on the shore of Rough River Lake in south central Kentucky. With 158 campsites, many offering electric hookups and panoramic lake views, the campground serves as a base for exploring the 5,100-acre lake that attracts over two million visitors annually. The campground provides comprehensive facilities including a swimming area, boat ramp, dump station, flush toilets, showers, drinking water, fish-cleaning station, playground, and a short trail. The lake is renowned for bass, crappie, and catfish fishing, with bass tournaments held throughout the operating season. Pontoon, johnboat, and jet ski rentals are available at nearby marinas. The rolling, forested hills of rural south central Kentucky provide an extraordinary natural setting, with views of ancient sandstone, shale, and limestone cliffs. The area is home to numerous species of wildlife, including migratory songbirds and waterfowl. Nearby attractions include the historic Green Farm adjacent to the lake and Mammoth Cave National Park, approximately one hour away.
Directions
From I-64 West, take Exit 105 onto IN-135 South toward Corydon. Continue on KY-79 South, then turn right onto US-60. Turn left onto KY-259/KY-79, then right to stay on KY-79. The campground is located at 663 South Highway 79, McDaniels, KY. Approximately 74 miles from Louisville with a travel time of about 1 hour and 20 minutes.
