About
Lakeview Campground is a small, primitive camping area located on the west shore of Hungry Horse Reservoir in the Flathead National Forest. Situated at 3,600 feet elevation, the campground offers 5 sites with scenic views of the reservoir and surrounding mountains. Accessed via Forest Road 895, approximately 24 miles southeast of the town of Hungry Horse, this remote location provides a peaceful setting for campers seeking solitude. The reservoir offers excellent fishing opportunities for trout and whitefish, with boat access available at the nearby Lost Johnny Point boat ramp. The campground operates on a pack-in, pack-out basis with no garbage service provided. Basic amenities include vault toilets, picnic tables, and fire rings at each site, but no potable water is available. This lightly-used campground is ideal for tent campers and small RVs looking for a rustic experience. The gravel Forest Road 895 provides access along the west side of the reservoir, offering opportunities to explore the Hungry Horse Reservoir area's 170 miles of shoreline and surrounding wilderness.
