About

Lake Thunderbird State Park encompasses over 1,800 acres surrounding the 6,070-acre Lake Thunderbird reservoir, approximately 13 miles east of Norman, Oklahoma. The park offers 352 campsites spread across multiple camping areas, including RV sites with full hookups (electric up to 50-amp, water, and sewer), semi-modern RV sites with electric only, and primitive tent camping. Pull-through sites and waterfront locations are available. Each campsite includes a picnic table and fire ring. Modern comfort stations with flush toilets and hot showers are distributed throughout the campground areas, along with dump stations for RV waste disposal. A gift shop serves campers, and two laundry facilities are on-site. The park features two storm shelters for severe weather protection. Recreational opportunities abound with two marinas (Calypso Cove and Little River), nine boat ramps, and two swim beaches. The lake supports year-round fishing for largemouth bass, catfish, crappie, and white bass. Extensive hiking, mountain biking, and equestrian trails wind through the park, and an archery range is available. A nature center offers educational programming.
