About

Lake Owen Campground is a scenic first-come, first-served campground located along the shores of 55-acre Lake Owen in the Medicine Bow-Routt National Forest. The campground features 35 sites spread across two loops set beneath a dense canopy of lodgepole pines with scattered aspens. Both loops offer sites overlooking the lake, with many providing views of the Snowy Range. Sites are well-separated by a grassy understory, offering adequate privacy. Each campsite includes a picnic table, fire ring, and pedestal grill. Three vault toilets serve the campground, and trash collection is provided. There is no potable water, so campers must bring their own supply. The maximum trailer length is 22 feet, making this campground better suited for tent camping and smaller trailers. Lake Owen offers excellent fishing opportunities for brook, cutthroat, and rainbow trout (Wyoming fishing license required). A boat ramp provides water access, though there is no dock. The campground enforces a 14-day stay limit and quiet hours from 10:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m.
