About
Bobbie Thomson Campground is a primitive, first-come, first-served campground located at 8,800 feet elevation in the Medicine Bow National Forest. The 16 campsites are situated along Douglas Creek, which offers fishing opportunities. Two pull-through sites accommodate RVs, though the remote access road with a single-lane bridge crossing limits suitability for very large rigs. The campground is accessed via a scenic but winding route from Albany, Wyoming, following Forest Roads 500 and 542 through the Fox Park area. Due to the high elevation, the campground is subject to seasonal closures based on snow conditions, typically opening in late spring or early summer and closing in fall.
Directions
From Laramie, take WY 130 west 21.7 miles to WY 11. Turn left and go 13 miles to Albany. From Albany, take Forest Route 500 for 2.8 miles to the Keystone sign at FR 542 at the Y intersection. Bear left onto FR 542 and go 5.8 miles to another Y intersection. Bear left toward Fox Park and go 1.3 miles to the campground sign, turn right crossing a single-lane bridge, then go 0.8 miles to the campground.
