About
Moose Lake Campground sits along its namesake 1,670-acre lake in the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest on the Great Divide Ranger District. The serene lake and surrounding pine, spruce, maple, aspen, and balsam forests create a spectacular setting for camping. The clear water is ideal for kayaking, canoeing, and swimming, with a sandy beach and boat ramp providing convenient lake access.
Anglers will find an abundance of musky, walleye, bass, and panfish in the lake. The location also provides access to miles of off-road vehicle, hiking, and mountain biking trails, with the Fishtrap Motorized Trail accessible from nearby Camp Loretta Trailhead about 17 miles away. Elk, eagles, loons, and other wildlife are frequently observed in and around the campground.
The campground offers 15 sites total: 3 tent-only sites and 12 sites that accommodate RVs ranging from 25 to 40 feet. Each site is equipped with a parking spur, picnic table, and fire ring with grill. Accessible vault toilets, drinking water, and trash collection are provided for registered campers. Nine sites are reservable through Recreation.gov while the remaining sites are first-come, first-served.
