Experience a unique camping adventure at the Outpost, nestled in the heart of Lake of the Ozarks State Park. These eight rustic log cabins offer an ideal middle ground for those who want to experience the outdoors without pitching a tent. Originally developed in 1993 and upgraded in 2011, each cabin provides comfortable sleeping for up to six people with two three-quarter-size beds in the loft and a double futon bed downstairs. Each cabin is equipped with tables and chairs, a wood-burning stove, electricity with ceiling fan and light, air conditioning, supplemental heating, a dorm-size refrigerator, and a microwave. Outside, you'll find picnic tables, benches, and a fire grill for barbecuing or campfires. A modern central restroom and showerhouse with drinking water is located within walking distance, along with a central parking area. The cabins are surrounded by oak-hickory forest, providing excellent wildlife watching opportunities from your front porch, and a hiking trail encircles the entire cabin area. Three of the cabins (2, 4, and 7) participate in the Cabins for Canines Program, allowing up to two dogs. Cabin 8 is accessible to people with disabilities. Guests should bring camping gear including sleeping bags, pillows, cooking and eating utensils, water containers, and lanterns. Some complimentary firewood is included with rental from September through March.

Directions

From Osage Beach, take Highway 42 east for approximately 3.5 miles, then turn into the park entrance on Highway 134. Follow the signs to the Outpost Cabins.
