About

Lake Hudson Campground sits within Lake Hudson State Recreation Area in southern Michigan near the Ohio border, surrounding a scenic 502-acre no-wake lake. The semi-modern campground features 50 campsites with electrical hookups arranged in two loops, offering large, private sites with some shade and lake views. The campground provides vault toilets and potable water via a hand pump at the entrance, but no showers or modern restrooms. The park is home to Michigan's first designated dark sky preserve, offering excellent night-sky viewing opportunities year-round. Lake Hudson is known for muskie fishing, with populations of largemouth bass, crappie, and walleye as well. The park features a designated swim beach, boat launch with courtesy pier, kayak launch, and 1.5 miles of trails. Additional recreational opportunities include hunting in native grass fields that are part of a pheasant restoration project, waterfowl hunting on the no-wake lake, paddling, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and metal detecting in designated areas. The park offers an accessible track chair for visitors to borrow and an accessible hunting blind available on a first-come, first-served basis. The town of Hudson, located 7 miles west, provides grocery stores, restaurants, and small-town charm with a historic downtown on the National Register of Historic Places.
