About

Harrison Lake North Shelter is one of three reservable shelterhouses at Harrison Lake State Park, a 142-acre park in Fulton County, Ohio. Located just beyond the park entrance sign, the North Shelter serves as a convenient gathering space for visitors enjoying the park's diverse recreational opportunities. The 105-acre Harrison Lake was created in 1941 by damming Mill Creek and offers fishing for largemouth and smallmouth bass, crappie, bluegill, catfish, northern pike, and carp. The park features a 150-foot swimming beach, multiple hiking trails totaling 3.5 miles, and a free 9-hole disc golf course near the North Shelter. The park is situated in what was once part of the Great Black Swamp, a vast wetland that stretched across northwest Ohio. Today, remnants of this unique ecosystem can be observed throughout the park, with great blue herons, common egrets, and numerous songbirds inhabiting the area. The park offers year-round camping with electric and non-electric sites, along with cabins and yurts. Boat rentals and bicycle rentals are available from the campground office. Winter activities include sledding, cross-country skiing, and ice fishing when conditions permit.
