About

Hayes Campground is part of one of Michigan's oldest state parks, W.J. Hayes State Park, located about an hour south of Lansing in the Irish Hills region. The 654-acre park straddles Wamplers Lake and Round Lake, offering campers prime waterfront access for boating, fishing, and swimming. The modern campground features 180 sites with asphalt pads and either 20- or 30-amp electrical service, plus two mini cabins and two tiny houses for those preferring a roof overhead. Facilities include flush restrooms, hot showers, and a sanitation station with potable water and three dump lanes. Sites 1-10 provide full water hookups in addition to electric. A camp store stocks essentials, and recreational amenities include a playground, volleyball court, and horseshoe pits. The park rents kayaks and stand-up paddleboards from the campground office during peak season. The lakes support bass, bluegill, and panfish, with an accessible fishing pier available. Two boat launches accommodate watercraft, and a buoyed swimming area provides a safe place to cool off. Interpretive programs run throughout the summer season.
