* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible. * WHERE...The following counties, in Indiana, Dearborn, Fayette, Franklin, Ohio, Ripley, Switzerland, Union and Wayne, the following counties, in Kentucky, Boone, Bracken, Campbell, Carroll, Gallatin, Grant, Kenton, Lewis, Mason, Owen, Pendleton and Robertson, and the following counties, in Ohio, Adams, Brown, Butler, Clermont, Clinton, Fayette, Greene, Hamilton, Highland, Hocking, Montgomery, Pickaway, Pike, Preble, Ross, Scioto and Warren. * WHEN...Through Wednesday afternoon. * IMPACTS...Soils remain moist and excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Rainfall through Wednesday morning is expected to be between 2 and 3 inches, with higher amounts expected along a narrow west-east axis. Located within Hocking Hills State Park, the Family Hike-In Campground provides a primitive camping experience with the convenience of nearby amenities. The campground features 33 individual campsites, all reservable, that are accessed by hiking short distances from the parking area. Sites range from close to the parking lot to about half a mile in, offering varying levels of seclusion among the trees. Each campsite is equipped with a fire pit and picnic table, and the campground maintains pit latrines and drinking water stations for camper use. A camp store and check-in facility are located at the entrance. The walk-in nature of the campground creates a more secluded and peaceful atmosphere than traditional drive-up sites, while still being accessible for families. The campground serves as an excellent base for exploring Hocking Hills State Park's renowned hiking trails, including Old Man's Cave, Cedar Falls, and Ash Cave. The park's natural features including waterfalls, rock formations, and hemlock-filled gorges are all within easy reach. The campground is located near mountain bike trails and provides access to the park's extensive trail system.
Directions
Hocking Hills State Park is located near Logan, Ohio, and is best accessed via State Route 664. The main entrance and visitor center are at Old Man's Cave, where you start your adventure. Expect a hilly and curvy drive as you approach the park; Logan is your last stop for supplies and cell service before entering the area.
