About

Cedar Falls Shelter is one of five reservable day-use shelter houses at Hocking Hills State Park, situated at the Cedar Falls parking area and trailhead. The shelter serves groups and visitors looking for a covered gathering space while exploring the Cedar Falls area, which features a 50-foot waterfall on Queer Creek, the largest waterfall by volume in the Hocking Hills. The half-mile loop trail to the falls descends via the Democracy Steps, a staircase of nearly 100 steps designed by artist and architect Akio Hizume. The trail passes rock shelters and grottos carved into the sandstone cliffs. This is a day-use facility only; no overnight camping is permitted. The shelter provides picnic tables, grills, latrines, and drinking water. Visitors must pack out all trash as no receptacles are provided. Pets are allowed but the area is not wheelchair accessible.
