About
Lake Griffin State Park Campground offers 40 well-shaded campsites nestled in a mature live oak hammock near the shores of Lake Griffin, one of the nine lakes in the Harris Chain. Each site includes water and electric hookups, with seven sites offering full sewer hookups. The campground accommodates RVs up to 40 feet with seven pull-through sites, and features accessible facilities including concrete pad sites with accessible fire rings. Campers enjoy access to a half-mile nature trail leading to Florida's second-largest live oak tree, approximately 400 years old. The Dead River marsh provides excellent paddling opportunities through pristine wetlands teeming with wildlife including alligators, herons, anhingas, and ospreys. The park's boat ramp offers access to Lake Griffin's exceptional fishing for bass, crappie, and catfish. Guided pontoon boat tours explore the marshlands, while the park's amenities include flush restrooms, hot showers, laundry facilities, a dump station, playground, and picnic pavilion. The campground is located directly off US Highway 441, so some road noise is present at sites along the western edge. Three designated accessible campsites feature concrete pads and accessible amenities. Well-behaved pets are welcome throughout the campground. The 620-acre park showcases diverse Florida ecosystems including basin swamp, sandhill, and freshwater marsh habitats.
