About

Mill Dam Group Camp has been a popular destination for generations, offering a fun and relaxing setting for groups of up to 150 to enjoy Ocala National Forest. Located in the shade of live oak trees overlooking the 168-acre Mill Dam Lake, the campground provides large picnic shelters and extensive access to water-based recreation, making it ideal for family reunions and other large gatherings. Water activities dominate the recreational offerings at Mill Dam. Anglers travel from throughout the region to enjoy excellent bass fishing on the lake. An adjacent boat ramp provides easy access for boats, canoes, and kayaks. A large swimming beach keeps visitors entertained during warmer months. The recreation area sits within the southernmost and oldest national forest east of the Mississippi River, which protects the world's largest contiguous sand pine scrub forest. The surrounding Ocala National Forest spans 383,000 acres across four counties in north central Florida. Wildlife including alligators, turtles, deer, raccoons, black bear, and numerous bird species inhabit the area. The forest is notable for its extensive off-road trail system and serves as a traditional destination for deer hunters. Mill Dam is conveniently located just off Highway 40, approximately 15 miles east of Silver Springs and 50 miles west of Ormond Beach.
