About
Santos Trailhead and Campground is situated on the Marjorie Harris Carr Cross Florida Greenway in Marion County, just west of U.S. 441 on Southeast 80th Street between Ocala and Belleview. The 25-site campground provides water and electric hookups suitable for RVs, trailers, and tent campers, with a bathhouse and dump station on-site. Reserved for overnight stays year-round, it serves as base camp for outdoor enthusiasts exploring the surrounding trails. The adjacent Santos Trailhead is internationally recognized as a Bronze Ride Center by the International Mountain Bike Association, featuring over 80 miles of diverse single-track mountain bike trails developed and maintained through partnership with the Ocala Mountain Bike Association. Trails range from beginner-friendly to expert-level, including the unique Vortex Freeride area built in a former limerock quarry. Every March, the Santos Fat Tire Festival draws hundreds of participants and top MTB manufacturers for one of the biggest mountain biking festivals in the Southeast. Beyond mountain biking, the area offers 79 miles of equestrian trails accessible from a day-use staging area, a 16-mile paved multi-use trail opened in 2018, and the Florida National Scenic Trail which traverses through the trailhead connecting westward to Dunnellon and eastward to the Ocala National Forest. Day-use amenities include restrooms, potable water, bike wash racks, and several picnic pavilions.
