The Ocala National Forest is currently under stage 1 fire restrictions. Exemptions include developed campsites with Forest Service provided campfire rings and grills. Dispersed campers who wish to have fires must use propane; charcoal is authorized for grilling purposes. All residents must conform to the specifics of their county's burn bans. The USFS conforms to and may enforce county burn bans as authorized under; CFR 261.5 (i) Violating any state law concerning burning fires or any state law that is for the purpose of preventing or restricting the spread of fire. USFS law enforcement can issue citations under this code.

Lake Dorr Cabin sits on the south shore of 1,760-acre Lake Dorr, about 1.5 miles northeast of Altoona, FL. Surrounded by palmetto palms and subtropical vegetation, this newly restored cabin offers polished hardwood floors and large windows with lake views. The cabin sleeps 10 with a queen bed in one bedroom, two sets of bunk beds in another, and two sleeper sofas in the living room. The fully equipped kitchen includes a refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, and electric stove. Outdoor amenities include a private boat ramp restricted to kayaks, canoes, and SUPs (no trailers), a fishing dock, three canoes with life vests, a picnic table, and a grill. Lake Dorr offers excellent fishing for largemouth bass, crappie, and panfish, as well as swimming and paddling. A Florida state fishing license is required. Guests must bring their own bedding, pillows, towels, dish soap, and food. The cabin entrance and bathroom are fully accessible. Check-in is at 4:00 PM and check-out is at 9:00 AM with no early check-ins or late check-outs accommodated. Reservations require a $100 deposit and are made through Recreation.gov.
Directions
Lake Dorr Cabin is at the southern end of Lake Dorr. Follow SR 19 north from Altoona. Turn left on East Altoona Road onto McCall (CR 8378) to reach the cabin. Total trip takes less than 10 minutes.
