About

Doe Lake Group Site is a reservation-only group campground in the Ocala National Forest, centered around a beautifully restored 1930s Civilian Conservation Corps dining hall. The historic lodge sits atop a grassy hill overlooking the clear waters of Doe Lake and includes a large group kitchen. The site can accommodate up to 250 people, making it ideal for major outdoor gatherings, equestrian events, weddings, and reunions. The camping area sits beneath a shady grove of oaks and pines along Doe Lake's shores. An architecturally-matched bathhouse with flush toilets and showers provides modern amenities. The facility is particularly popular with equestrian groups, offering hitching posts and access to the 34-mile LAM Equestrian Trail that parallels the Ocklawaha River northward to Eureka. Tent camping is most common, though RVs and horse trailers are permitted in specific areas without hookups. Recreation opportunities include fishing from the shore or from canoes, kayaks, and low-powered boats launched from the unimproved boat ramp. The site provides exclusive access to Doe Lake for reservation holders. Located in north central Florida, the Ocala National Forest spans 383,000 acres and is the southernmost national forest east of the Mississippi River, protecting the world's largest contiguous sand pine scrub forest.
