About

Big Bass Campground offers a true back-to-nature experience in the southern portion of Ocala National Forest. Located near the Ocklawaha River and close to Doe Lake Recreation Area, this seasonal campground provides 19 campsites suitable for both tent and RV camping. The setting is peaceful and wooded, with the occasional black bear sighting adding to the wilderness atmosphere. The campground provides vault toilets and basic amenities, making it ideal for campers who want to escape the hustle of city life. Two ADA-accessible sites are available, along with accessible toilet facilities. A dump station is available on-site for registered campers, with a fee for non-registered users. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis during walk-in periods, though sites may also be reservable through Recreation.gov. Big Bass serves as an excellent base for exploring the diverse ecosystems of Ocala National Forest, including hiking, fishing, and wildlife viewing opportunities. The campground is also popular during hunting season. Pets are welcome but must be kept on leashes no longer than six feet. All campers are subject to a 14-day stay limit within a 30-day period across all Ocala National Forest campgrounds.
