About

Lake Fork Campground is a secluded destination in the Rio Grande National Forest, located 40 miles northwest of Antonito, Colorado. The campground sits at 9,500 feet elevation on the banks of the Conejos River, surrounded by spruce, aspen, cottonwoods, and willows. The area offers spectacular views of Conejos Canyon and serves as a base for exploring the alpine terrain of south-central Colorado. The Conejos River is designated a Gold Medal fishery, meaning it offers exceptional potential for trophy trout. Rainbow and brown trout are the primary species. Hiking trails in the area include Lake Fork to Big Lake and Conejos Peak to Blue Lake. Wildlife in the region includes black bears, deer, and marmots, with wildflowers providing colorful displays throughout the summer. The campground has 18 sites with vault toilets and one centrally located potable water spigot. Most sites have metal fire rings and picnic tables. Maximum RV length is 45 feet, though the 18-mile gravel access road may limit accessibility for larger rigs. Firewood is available for purchase on-site.
