About
Lake Ellen West Campground sits on the western shore of 75.5-acre Lake Ellen at 2,300 feet elevation in Washington's Colville National Forest. This small, primitive campground offers five well-separated sites, each equipped with a fire ring, tent pad, and picnic table. A vault toilet serves the campground, though potable water is not available. Campers must bring their own water or treat water from the lake. The campground features a boat dock and shoreline access ideal for fishing and wildlife viewing. Rainbow trout are stocked each spring by Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, providing consistent fishing throughout the season. Internal combustion motors are prohibited, making this a quiet destination for kayakers, canoeists, and electric-motor boats. Wildlife is abundant, with regular sightings of bald eagles, osprey, loons, and beaver. Access is via a single-lane gravel road approximately 17 miles from Kettle Falls. The campground operates first-come, first-served with no reservations. A Washington state fishing license is required, and lead weights or jigs are prohibited. Quiet hours are enforced between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m.
