About

Lake Anita State Park, dedicated in 1961, sits on 1,062 acres in southwest Iowa's Cass County. The centerpiece is a 171-acre artificial lake stocked with largemouth bass, bluegill, crappie, and channel catfish. Two boat ramps and multiple fishing jetties provide water access, while a swimming beach offers summer recreation. The campground contains 159 sites organized into several loops near the lake. Options include 57 standard non-electric sites, 48 electric sites with 20/30/50-amp service, 40 full-hookup sites with electric/water/sewer, 4 electric-with-water sites, and 3 tent-only sites. A youth group camping area accommodates organized groups. Each site includes a fire ring with cooking grate and picnic table. Three modern restroom buildings with flush toilets and showers serve the campground, along with a centrally located dump station and water hydrants throughout. Beyond camping, the park offers over five miles of trails winding through restored prairie and diverse habitats. Seven open shelters accommodate group gatherings, with Shelter 1 being ADA accessible. During peak season, Saturday movie nights run from Memorial Day through Labor Day. The park entrance is conveniently located 5 miles south of I-80 Exit 70.
