About
Green Valley State Park is located approximately three miles north of Creston in Union County, Iowa. The 390-acre lake serves as the centerpiece for the park, offering swimming at a sandy beach, fishing from ADA-accessible piers and jetties, and boating from four boat ramps. The campground contains 93 sites across multiple categories including 48 standard electric sites, 17 tent-only sites, 15 full hook-up sites, buddy sites for larger groups, and three camping cabins with electricity, microwave, and refrigerator. The campground features modern restrooms with flush toilets and showers, a dump station, and a fish cleaning station. Sites include picnic tables and fire rings, standard for Iowa state park campgrounds. Electric sites offer 20/30/50 amp service, while full hook-up sites add water and sewer connections. RV lengths of 50-75 feet can be accommodated depending on the site, with both back-in and pull-through options available. A 6.5-mile paved multi-use trail begins at the campground and connects to Creston, passing through DNR-managed Mitchell Marsh. An additional 10-mile trail circles the entire lake, traversing wetlands, woodlands, and native prairie remnants. The park provides excellent habitat for wildlife observation and hunting opportunities in designated areas during season.
