The campground is currently open and accepting reservations. Showers and flush toilets are closed during the off-season from October through May. Park fee booth hours are 8 AM to 4 PM daily.

About

The Dam Side Group Use Area is situated directly across from the historic Lahontan Dam, completed in 1915 as part of the Newlands Project. This group facility is one of two developed day-use and group areas at Lahontan State Recreation Area, offering a scenic desert reservoir setting about 18 miles west of Fallon and 45 miles northeast of Carson City. The recreation area encompasses a 17-mile-long reservoir with 69 miles of shoreline when full. Popular activities include boating, fishing, water skiing, and swimming. The dam side offers easy access to the northern portion of the reservoir. All new facilities at developed areas are ADA accessible. The park operates year-round with a 14-day camping limit within any 30-day period. Quiet hours are enforced from 10 PM to 7 AM. Reservations can be made through Nevada State Parks. Note that showers and flush toilets are only operational from late May through September.
