About
Ken's Lake Campground is part of the Ken's Lake Recreation Area, located 10 miles south of Moab, Utah. The campground comprises two loops serving different camping needs. Loop A features large, open sites without shade, ideal for large motorhomes and trailers, and operates seasonally during spring and fall with advance reservations through Recreation.gov. Loop B remains open year-round on a first-come, first-served basis, offering smaller sites with juniper and cottonwood trees providing shade and privacy.
The recreation area includes Ken's Lake, a man-made reservoir completed in 1981 as part of the Mill Creek Project, where electric motors are permitted but gas-powered engines are prohibited. A gravel boat ramp provides access for non-motorized boating, kayaking, and stand-up paddleboarding. Over 3 miles of hiking and equestrian trails wind through the area, offering views of the Moab Valley, La Sal Mountains, red rock Moab Rim, and access to Faux Falls along the diverted Mill Creek.
Surrounded by red rock fins to the east and sagebrush flats to the south and west, the campground attracts OHV enthusiasts due to its proximity to the south end of the Steel Bender Jeep Safari Route. Each campsite includes a gravel parking pad for two vehicles, picnic table, fire ring, and access to vault toilets and trash receptacles. The location serves as an excellent base for exploring nearby Arches and Canyonlands National Parks, as well as the Manti-La Sal National Forest.
Directions
From Moab, drive south on Highway 191 for approximately 8 miles until you see signs for Ken's Lake. Turn left off the highway and follow signs to the lake. The campground is just beyond the turn to the lake. Loop A is the first loop, Loop B is the second loop.
