Boy Scout Campground is located in South Willow Canyon at an elevation of 6,320 feet in the Stansbury Range. The campground is accessed via South Willow Canyon Road, which is paved initially but becomes gravel at the National Forest boundary. The remote desert canyon setting features oak, maple and juniper trees providing partial shade, with Willow Creek flowing through the site. The campground serves as a gateway to wilderness recreation. The multi-use Stansbury Front Trail and Medina Flat Trail begin across the road from the entrance, offering access to the rugged Deseret Peak Wilderness. Willow Creek provides opportunities for rainbow and brown trout fishing. The area is noted for fantastic wildlife viewing opportunities. This is a primitive campground with vault toilets, picnic tables, campfire circles, and tent pads. No water is available on-site, so visitors must bring all water needed for their stay. The campground contains 7 single sites (one listed as 5 or 6 actual sites in different sources), 1 double site accommodating 16 people, and 1 group site for up to 35 people. Reservations are available through Recreation.gov with a 7-day maximum stay limit.

Directions

From Salt Lake City, head west on I-80 for 36 miles. Take the Stansbury-Tooele/Route 35 exit and travel south 3 miles to Route 138 West. Follow it 10 miles to Grantsville. Go through Grantsville to Cooley Street and turn south; go 5 miles to the South Willow Canyon turnoff. Boy Scout Campground is 1.7 miles from the forest boundary on gravel road.
