About

Ken Wilcox Horse Camp at Haney Meadows sits at 5,600 feet elevation in the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest, offering a staging area for equestrian trail riding in the surrounding high country. The campground provides 19 trailer/tent sites suitable for horse trailers, with vault toilets and stock water available on-site. Campers must bring their own drinking water as no potable water is provided. The Table Mountain Fire burned through the area in September 2012, leaving downed trees and changed forest conditions. The campground serves as a base for exploring nearby trails in the Haney Meadows area. Due to the high elevation, the site typically remains snow-covered until early summer and closes in late fall when winter conditions return. Access is from Blewett Pass on Highway 97, traveling south on Forest Road 9716 for about 4 miles to the junction with Road 9712, then continuing approximately 4 miles to the campground. The remote location and primitive facilities make this best suited for self-sufficient equestrian campers.

Directions

From Cle Elum, travel northwest on Highway 97 for 24 miles to the summit of Blewett Pass. Turn onto Forest Road 9716 and travel south about 4 miles to the junction with Road 9712. Turn left onto Forest Road 9712 and continue about 4 miles to the campground.
