Julian Price Campground occupies a scenic 4,200-acre memorial park at Milepost 297 on the Blue Ridge Parkway, donated by the family of insurance executive Julian Price after his death in 1946. The campground wraps around Price Lake, a pristine 47-acre mountain lake that reflects the surrounding forested ridges. Spring brings wildflowers while fall delivers vivid orange and red foliage across the rolling terrain. The facility offers 190 campsites across multiple loops, accommodating both tents and RVs. Standard amenities include flush toilets, potable water, a dump station, and food storage lockers for bear management. Each site comes equipped with a picnic table, fire ring, grill, and lantern pole. There are no electric, water, or sewer hookups at individual sites. Recreational opportunities abound. Price Park Boat Rentals offers canoes and kayaks on the lake, while anglers can fish from the dock with a North Carolina license. Hikers have access to several trails ranging from easy to moderately strenuous, including the Price Lake Loop, Boone Fork Trail, Green Knob Trail, and portions of the Tanawha and Mountains-to-Sea through-trails. Wildlife sightings include black bears, wild turkeys, grouse, owls, and hawks.
