Closed — Closed for the entire 2025 season due to impacts from Hurricane Helene. The campground sustained significant damage and will not reopen until 2026 at the earliest.

Linville Falls Campground is located along the Blue Ridge Parkway at Milepost 316.3 in Burke County, North Carolina. The campground features 64 campsites nestled in a dense pine canopy, with 39 reservable sites and 25 first-come, first-served sites. The campground sits within hiking distance of Linville Gorge, a vast 11,786-acre designated Wilderness area that surrounds the Linville River, creating a stunning canyon nicknamed "The Grand Canyon of North Carolina." The campground serves as an ideal base for exploring the area's exceptional hiking trails. Linville Falls is a must-see attraction, featuring three waterfall overlooks accessible via a one-mile hike, culminating in a spectacular 45-foot waterfall. Nearby Duggers Creek Falls is accessible from the Linville Falls Visitor Center on a small loop trail. The Linville River, which winds beside the campground, is stocked for trout fishing. More challenging trails descend into the Linville Gorge to the river below. The campground offers seasonal amenities including a dump station, potable water, flush toilets, and an amphitheater. Two accessible campsites are available with accessible grills, picnic tables, and restrooms. The surrounding forest features hemlock, white pine, oaks, hickory, and birch trees, with colorful wildflowers in spring and brilliant foliage in autumn. Campsites include picnic tables and fire pits. The campground has no electric or water hookups. Interagency Senior and Access pass holders receive a 50% discount on the base camping fee.

Directions

From I-40 East, take Highway 221 north to the Blue Ridge Parkway at Linville Falls. Go north for one mile to Linville Falls Spur Road, located at Milepost 317, and continue a half mile to the campground.
