Roan Mountain State Park Campground sits at the base of the Roan Highlands in Carter County, Tennessee, offering campers access to some of the most spectacular high-elevation scenery in the Southern Appalachians. The campground features 106 developed sites spread across upper and lower loops, with 86 RV sites providing water and electric hookups and 20 tent-only sites with water access. Every site includes a grill, picnic table, and fire ring, while nearby bathhouses offer hot showers and modern restrooms. The park's location makes it an ideal staging area for hiking the Appalachian Trail, which crosses the Roan Highlands at elevations exceeding 6,000 feet. The area is famous for the Rhododendron Gardens, which bloom spectacularly in mid-June. Three backcountry primitive sites on Rosebay Ridge Trail provide options for more remote camping experiences. Campers have access to Wi-Fi throughout the campground, a dump station near the check-in area, and dumpsters for trash disposal. The campground operates year-round, though some bathhouses close seasonally from November through mid-April.

From I-26, take Exit 24 toward Unicoi/Erwin. Follow US-19W/TN-107 toward Roan Mountain. Turn onto TN-143 and continue approximately 8 miles to the park entrance at 1015 Highway 143, Roan Mountain, TN 37687.
