About
Located in the Grandfather Ranger District of Pisgah National Forest near Burke County, Brown Mountain CUA Roadside Campsites provides 12 designated dispersed camping sites along a gravel forest road. This primitive camping area is situated near the Brown Mountain OHV Trail System, the only off-highway vehicle area in Pisgah National Forest. Each campsite is equipped with basic amenities including a defined parking area, tent pad, picnic table, fire ring, and lantern post. The sites are spaced along the roadside to provide dispersed camping opportunities while minimizing environmental impact. A pit toilet is available in the camping area. This is a pack-in, pack-out area with no water, trash service, or other developed facilities. The camping area operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no advance reservations. Campers can stay for up to 14 consecutive days. Access is via Brown Mountain Beach Road, a gravel forest road that may be rough or impassable during winter weather or heavy rain.
Directions
Access via Brown Mountain Beach Road (Forest Road 1328) off NC Highway 181 near the community of Brown Mountain Beach. The dispersed campsites are located along the gravel forest road leading toward the Brown Mountain OHV area.
