Boone Fork Campground

Open

Open but unmaintained. The campground operates from March 31 through Labor Day. All sites are primitive with no toilets, no running water, and no electric hookups. Campers must hike in and be fully self-sufficient.

About

Boone Fork Campground sits in the high-elevation forests of the Grandfather Ranger District in Pisgah National Forest, offering sweeping mountain views along the northern reaches of the forest. This primitive backcountry camping area requires hikers to access the developed areas on foot. The campground is no longer maintained by the Forest Service but remains open for use. All camping is primitive with no amenities available. There are no electric hookups, no toilets, and no potable water. Campers must be fully self-sufficient and prepared for backcountry conditions. Mountain biking opportunities exist in the surrounding area. The campground operates seasonally from late March through Labor Day. A self-service fee station is available for payment, and camping is first-come, first-served with no advance reservations.
