About

Juanita Lake Campground offers 23 partially-shaded campsites adjacent to a 55-acre lake in the Klamath National Forest at 5,130 feet elevation. Surrounded by ponderosa pine forest, the campground provides lake views from all sites and serves as a base for water-based recreation and wildlife observation. Each site includes a picnic table, fire ring with grill, and parking for two vehicles including trailers. The lake is regularly stocked with trout and maintains populations of bass and catfish. A paved boat launch ramp and summer dock accommodate small rowboats, rafts, and canoes, though no motors are permitted. A 1.5-mile paved, barrier-free trail circles the lake with two fishing jetties providing easy access. For more challenging terrain, a 6-mile trail climbs 2,700 feet to Ball Mountain Lookout. The lake is a favorite birding area where bald eagles and osprey regularly fish. Facilities include vault toilets and bear-proof trash service. Non-potable water is available on-site. The campground operates seasonally, typically mid-May through mid-October, with access roads closed to vehicles in winter. Visitors should properly store all food in bear country and can gather dead and down wood for campfires without chainsaws. The Butte Valley Wildlife Area is within four miles.
