About

Jane's Reservoir Campground sits along the southeastern shore of its namesake reservoir in the remote Devil's Garden Ranger District of Modoc National Forest. Located approximately 30 miles north of Alturas via Crowder Flat Road, the campground is known for its solitude and natural beauty. The reservoir supports fishing, and a dirt boat ramp north of the campground entrance provides easy lake access. This is a primitive, no-fee campground with minimal facilities. Two vault toilets serve the area, but there is no potable water, so campers must bring their own supply. Garbage service is not provided; visitors must pack out all trash including fish guts. Each site has a picnic table. The campground operates seasonally, typically from mid-May through late October depending on weather conditions. The area is suitable for those seeking a quiet, undeveloped camping experience. Dogs are permitted on leash. The 14-day stay limit applies. Light usage levels mean campsites are generally available on a first-come, first-served basis without reservations.

Directions

From Alturas, travel west on Highway 299 for 3 miles. Turn north on Crowder Flat Road (County Road 73) and travel approximately 29 miles to the Jane's Reservoir turnoff on the left.
