About
Jack Creek Crew Quarters is a modern two-story log facility located in the Sierra Madre Range of Medicine Bow-Routt National Forest, surrounded by lodgepole pine, aspen, and mixed conifer forest at 8,500 feet elevation. The facility sleeps up to 15 people in five bedrooms with single and bunk beds, though bedding is not provided. Guests have access to a fully equipped double kitchen with propane ranges, refrigerators, sinks, and basic cooking and eating utensils. Both levels feature bathrooms with flush toilets and showers. Solar panels provide limited electricity, so visitors should plan for conservative power and water use. The facility is heated with propane.
Outside amenities include picnic tables and a large charcoal grill. Trash service is not provided, requiring pack-in, pack-out practices. The facility can be rented for up to 14 consecutive nights at $225 per night. Restrictions include no saddle or pack animals within the facility area, and no campers, tents, or trailers may be set up on the property.
The surrounding area offers exceptional outdoor recreation opportunities. Jack Creek Campground is one mile away, and the Continental Divide National Scenic Trail lies to the west. The region is excellent for river and stream fishing, day hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, and hunting. Wildlife viewing is abundant, with elk, deer, black bear, and moose frequently spotted in the area. The facility provides access to both the Huston Park Wilderness and Encampment River Wilderness areas.
