About
Bottle Creek Group Picnic Site sits at 8,800 feet elevation in the Medicine Bow National Forest, offering a spacious day-use gathering area for groups up to 75 people. The facility includes numerous large picnic tables providing approximately 150 feet of table space, two serving tables, two large pedestal grills, and one large wood grill. Up to 10 vehicles are included with the reservation; additional vehicles incur a $5 day-use fee. The site is surrounded by lodgepole pine and aspen forest, providing natural shade for gatherings. Nearby recreational opportunities include fishing for brown and rainbow trout on the Encampment and North Fork Encampment Rivers, and day hiking on the Green Mountain Falls and Encampment River Trails. Wildlife viewing is common in the area, with black bear, elk, mule deer, and moose inhabiting the surrounding lands. This is a day-use only facility with no overnight camping permitted. The picnic site itself has no restrooms or potable water; visitors must pack in and pack out all trash. The adjacent Bottle Creek Campground provides vault toilets and drinking water for those needing facilities.

From Encampment, take Wyoming Highway 70 west approximately 5.8 miles to the Hog Park Reservoir sign at Forest Road 550. Turn left onto Forest Road 550 for 0.1 miles, then turn right at the campground entrance and continue 0.2 miles.
