About

Battle Creek Campground is a remote, primitive campground in the Medicine Bow-Routt National Forest, tucked along the West Fork of Battle Creek near Huston Park Wilderness. With only 4 campsites under cottonwood trees at 7,800 feet elevation, it offers solitude for campers seeking a backcountry experience without venturing into designated wilderness. The campground provides basic amenities including picnic tables and fire rings at each site. Fishing opportunities exist in Battle Creek, and the location serves as a gateway to Huston Park Wilderness hiking and the Continental Divide National Scenic Trail. This is a pack-it-in, pack-it-out site with no trash service or host on-site. Access is via Forest Road 807, approximately 21-26 miles west of Encampment on Wyoming Highway 70. The road is typically passable from June through October, weather permitting. Sites are first-come, first-served with a 14-day stay limit and no camping fee.

Directions

From Encampment, drive west on WY Highway 70 approximately 21 miles. Turn left onto Forest Road 807 and continue south about 2 miles to the campground.
