About
Island Creek Park is a day-use facility located on John H. Kerr Reservoir, a 50,000-acre lake extending 39 miles along the Roanoke River in Virginia and North Carolina. Also known as Island Creek Wounded Warrior Park, it was established through a partnership between the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the American Legion. The park is designed with accessibility in mind, featuring a handicap-accessible shelter, covered fishing dock with boat boarding gates, vault toilet, and cemented walkways. A boat ramp provides water access for fishing and boating. The reservoir offers excellent fishing for largemouth bass, striped bass, crappie, and catfish. Important: This is a day-use only facility. Overnight camping, alcoholic beverages, and hunting are prohibited. Vehicles must remain on paved roads, and dogs are allowed on a maximum 6-foot leash.
