Occoneechee State Park sits on the shores of John H. Kerr Reservoir (Buggs Island Lake), one of the largest lakes in Virginia. The park offers 11 cabins for overnight rental: six standard two-bedroom frame cabins, three two-bedroom water-view cabins, one three-bedroom frame cabin, and one three-bedroom water-view cabin. Two-bedroom units sleep up to 6 guests, while three-bedroom cabins accommodate up to 8. Each cabin is climate-controlled and furnished with rustic mission-style furniture. Kitchens include refrigerator, stove, microwave, coffeemaker, toaster, dishes, cookware, and utensils. All cabins have a fireplace and a wrap-around deck with rocking chairs. The yard includes a picnic table and charcoal grill. Guests must bring all linens, towels, and food. Check-in is 4 p.m. and check-out is 10 a.m. Pets are welcome for $20 per pet per night. Cabins 4 and 11 meet universal accessibility standards. The park also features a visitor center, camp store with Native American merchandise, and dump station. Reservations are made through Reserve Virginia Parks or by calling the state parks reservation line.
