Occoneechee State Park Cabins

Open — The park is open year-round for day use from 8 a.m. to dusk. Cabins and lodges are available for rent year-round, with a six-night minimum stay between Memorial Day and Labor Day, and a two-night minimum the rest of the year.

Occoneechee State Park sits along the shores of the 48,000-acre Buggs Island Lake, also known as the John H. Kerr Reservoir, in southern Virginia near Clarksville. The park offers 11 cabins and 2 large family lodges that combine the comforts of home with stunning lake access. Cabins range from 2-bedroom units sleeping up to 6 people to 3-bedroom units sleeping 8, with several offering direct water views. The two 6-bedroom lodges can accommodate up to 16 guests and include washers, dryers, and TV/Blu-ray players. All cabins feature full kitchens, climate control, wrap-around decks with rocking chairs, fireplaces, and outdoor grilling areas, though they do not include linens, TVs, or phones. The park provides exceptional access to one of Virginia's premier fishing destinations, known for record-setting catfish over 100 pounds and excellent bass fishing. Three boat ramps offer free launching for overnight guests. Beyond the water, visitors can explore 20 miles of trails for hiking, biking, and horseback riding, plus archery ranges and a visitor center museum dedicated to the indigenous Occoneechee people. The park operates from early March through early December, with summer rentals requiring multi-night stays and reduced minimums during shoulder seasons.

From I-85, take Route 58 West Exit at South Hill. Park is located on Route 58 one mile east of Clarksville.
