About

Iron Springs Campground offers a rustic camping experience on the Uncompahgre Plateau within the Grand Mesa, Uncompahgre and Gunnison National Forests. With just 8 campsites designed for tents and small contained trailers, this campground provides a quiet retreat for those seeking solitude in a high-elevation forest setting. The campground serves as a base camp for OHV enthusiasts, mountain bikers, and hunters exploring the plateau. The Ouray Ranger District manages this first-come, first-served facility, which opens seasonally from late spring to early fall depending on weather and snow conditions. Quiet hours are enforced from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Amenities are minimal: vault toilets are provided, but there is no potable water on site. Campers should come prepared with their own water supply and be self-sufficient for this primitive camping experience.

Directions
