About
Hidden Horse Equestrian Campground is a specialized horse camp on the South Fork of the Salmon River at the southern edge of the Klamath National Forest. At 5,800 feet elevation, the campground provides six sites designed specifically for equestrian use, with each site featuring four 12'x12' iron horse corrals. A mounting block at Site 2 is available for all riders in camp. No watering troughs are provided, so campers must bring their own buckets. The campground serves as an excellent base for exploring the adjacent Trinity Alps Wilderness, Russian Wilderness, and the Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail. Riders can access three trailheads leading to wilderness lakes and extensive trail networks. The area is surrounded by the diverse landscapes of the Klamath National Forest, home to nearly 400 animal species across elevations ranging from 450 to 8,900 feet. Of the six sites, only Site #6 is reservable through Recreation.gov; the remaining five are first-come, first-served. Site #6 features pull-through parking for horse trailers. One site is ADA-accessible. Each site includes a picnic table and is limited to one horse trailer. Dogs are allowed but must remain leashed. The camping limit is 14 days.
