About

Hunt Camp 79C (Site 079C) sits within the Blue Lake Recreation Area of Delta National Forest, the only entirely bottomland hardwood ecosystem in the National Forest System. This primitive dispersed campsite serves as a base for hunters exploring the Sunflower Wildlife Management Area, though it accommodates any outdoor enthusiast seeking solitude in Mississippi's Yazoo Basin. The double-capacity site features a 71-foot gravel driveway suitable for back-in access by RVs or trailers up to 30 feet. Each site includes a fire ring, lantern post, and picnic table. Potable water must be obtained from the Delta Ranger District work center on Forest Service Road 703. Restroom facilities are located along Forest Service Roads 715, 717, 720, and 707. The surrounding 60,898-acre forest features majestic bald cypress trees and bottomland hardwoods. ATVs are prohibited off-trailer at campsites but permitted on designated trails with proper permits. No alcohol is permitted on Wildlife Management Areas per Mississippi Department regulations. Bears and other wildlife are present, so proper food storage is required.
