About

Hungry Mother State Park's Shelter and Amphitheater facilities are day-use group rental areas located within this scenic 2,180-acre park in Virginia's Blue Ridge Mountains. These facilities are designed for picnics, family reunions, and special events rather than overnight camping. Three shelters are available for full-day rental from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Shelter 1 accommodates 75 people and is universally accessible near the beach area. Shelter 2 holds 75 people in a more secluded setting near boat rentals. Shelter 3 is the largest and can be rented as two separate sections, each holding 40 people. All shelters include charcoal grills, picnic tables, electrical outlets (April 1 through October 31), fireplaces, and restroom access. The amphitheater is situated on an island accessible by footbridge and is available noon to 10 p.m. It features wooden bench seating for 60 with room for 40 additional standing. The facility includes one electrical outlet and is suitable for ceremonies, performances, and gatherings.

Directions
